Slemon Park is "Home of Prince Edward Island's Aerospace Industry". Up until 1991, the aerospace industry was non-existent on Prince Edward Island. With the transfer of assets from the former Canadian Forces Base Summerside and the creation of Slemon Park Corporation, the governments of the day decided that the best direction to re-develop the assets was in the aerospace and training industry.

The Park is home to several international aerospace companies that include Vector Aerospace, Honeywell Engines and Systems, Testori Americas, MDS-PRAD Technologies Corporation, Tronosjet Maintenance Inc. and Holland College's Aerospace and Industrial Technology Centre. This aerospace training center has been instrumental in the development of the aerospace industry because can tailor specific training programs to meet an existing tenant's need or a new tenant locating in the park. Slemon Park is the only aerospace Business Park in Canada with a training arm component.

In order to create an attractive business climate, the Province of Prince Edward Island created a tax free zone for aerospace companies who locate to Slemon Park. This incentive program is administered through Prince Edward Island Business Development. The incentive program includes an annual 100% rebate of Provincial Sales, Income Tax and Property Tax to qualifying companies until the year 2012.
